Students will work on art projects and have lessons around finding their inner artist. Media varies, but creativity is nonstop! Keep an eye out for gallery showings in the hallways!
Students will use different tools and materials such as paint, oil pastels, clay, fabric, markers, scissors, speed squares, and pencils. The students will create a variety of projects such as: drawing, sculpture, sewing, creating with clay, paper in a variety of ways, and printmaking.
At Mountain View Art Studio, we are guided by three important principles:
- What do artists do?
- The child is the artist.
- The classroom is the child’s studio.
Student artists come up with their own ideas, execute their art based on technical demonstrations and classroom discussions, give and receive feedback, and reflect on the process of their creation.
They are developing confidence, independence, and creativity, and critical thinking skills – all while being fabulous artists.
We are a Choice-Based art studio. What does this mean?
- Multiple centers happening at once
- Students are given resources, time, skills, and support to make art based off their interests.
- Students think independently, collaborate, and make personally meaningful work.
